HYDE Savio Jacket — Bourbon Cognac Nubuck Lambskin | Men's Luxury USA-Made Leather Jacket
Why we selected it
The Savio Bourbon Cognac was chosen for the Hyde collection because it offers something a standard leather jacket cannot — a surface that behaves more like a living material than a finished product. The Bourbon Cognac nubuck develops depth and warmth with every wear, responding to the oils of the hand and the weight of use. It is the jacket for the man who understands that the finest things improve over time.
Craftsmanship
Made in Los Angeles by a three-generation family leather atelier with over four decades of craft behind every seam. The skin is English domestic lambskin — selected for its tight fiber structure and consistent grain — finished as a grain-side nubuck, meaning the top layer of the hide is buffed away to reveal the natural nap beneath. Unlike suede, which is finished on the flesh side, nubuck carries the structural integrity of the full grain with the softness of a buffed surface. The oil tannage used on this skin gives it a characteristic draggy hand feel — a tactile richness that signals quality to anyone who handles it. Only the top ten percent of world skins qualify. Six to seven skins are hand-matched per garment. Every seam is sewn at exactly ten stitches per inch. The entire finished garment is pressed.
The Bourbon Cognac finish
Grain-side English domestic lambskin, oil-tanned and buffed to an almost uniformly napped surface — finer and more consistent than most nubuck, with very little visible grain variation. The result is a warm, amber-cognac tone with extraordinary depth: the color of aged whiskey held up to light. The leather-lined collar adds a layer of considered construction detail that elevates the Savio beyond any standard leather jacket.
Styling
Bourbon Cognac works with everything cold-weather dressing demands — dark denim, flannel trousers, heavyweight knitwear. The warmth of the tone makes it a natural companion to camel, cream, and forest green. Wear it as the statement layer over a roll-neck for lodge evenings, or open over a chambray shirt for a more relaxed read. The leather-lined collar wears beautifully turned up in wind.
Investment quality
Grain-side nubuck of this quality — oil-tanned, uniformly napped, and constructed in Los Angeles from English domestic lambskin — is rarer than most buyers realise. The oil tannage process that gives this leather its characteristic hand feel takes longer and costs more than standard finishing. The leather-lined collar is a construction detail found only in jackets built to last. At $2,295 this is not a leather jacket. It is the leather jacket.
