HYDE Verano Jacket — Burnished Saddle Italian Lamb Nubuck | Men's Luxury Gimo's Jacket
Why We Selected It
Every so often a jacket arrives that solves a problem we hear constantly: something with real presence that still goes everywhere. The Verano is that jacket. Made in Italy by Gimo's — the Veneto house that has been dyeing, washing, and tailoring leather outerwear since the 1960s — it takes premium lamb nubuck and finishes it by hand, so no two pieces read exactly alike. The result is rugged in character and refined in cut, which is a balance most makers claim, and very few achieve.
Craftsmanship
Gimo's built its reputation on the treatments other houses outsource. Lamb nubuck is selected for suppleness, then hand-burnished with a wax finish that settles into the grain — darker where the leather naturally absorbs, lighter across the panels that catch light. That variation is not a flaw to be corrected; it is the point. The body is lightly structured through the shoulder and chest so the jacket holds a masculine line without padding, and the panel seaming is placed to follow the torso rather than fight it.
The Finish
The tone is Burnished Saddle — a warm mid-brown with smoke and amber moving through it, the color of a well-kept saddle rather than a new one. It reads dressier than a bomber and easier than a topcoat, and it will only improve: nubuck takes on a burnish at the cuffs, elbows and pocket edges as it is worn.
Design Details
A stand collar with a snap-tab closure frames the neck and can be worn open or fastened against wind. Four zip pockets — two vertical at the chest, two slanted at the hip — handle everything you carry without adding bulk or breaking the line of the jacket. A two-way zipper runs the full length under a snap-front placket, so the hem can be released for movement when seated or driving.
Lining
The body is lined in a warm wool and polyamide blend for insulation through cool weather. The sleeves are finished in breathable viscose, so the jacket slides cleanly over a sweater or sport coat rather than dragging on it — a small detail that changes how often a jacket actually gets worn.
Styling
Over a fine-gauge merino crewneck with denim and boots for the weekend. Over an oxford and wool trousers when you want the ease of a jacket with the authority of a blazer. The Burnished Saddle tone sits comfortably with navy, charcoal, cream and olive, and it flatters camel and denim in a way black leather never will.
Investment Quality
Italian lamb nubuck at this grade, hand-finished and fully lined, is a fifteen-year garment cared for properly. The hand-burnished wax finish means the jacket arrives with character already in it and continues to develop rather than degrade. This is a piece you buy once.
Fit Notes
Italian sizing, 48–60. Cut with a lightly structured, tailored body — trim through the chest and waist without being restrictive. If you sit between sizes or plan to layer over knitwear, size up. Contact the Park City boutique for sizing guidance.
