HYDE Bishop Field Jacket — Mocha English Lambskin Nubuck with Shearling | Men's Luxury USA-Made Field Jacket
Why we selected it
The Bishop Field Jacket in Mocha is the designer field jacket redefined. A rich mocha English lambskin nubuck — soft, uniform, and possessed of a draggy hand feel that signals quality the moment it's touched — is paired with a detachable shearling collar, a smooth timber Napa placket and trim, and a 100% wool lining. Where the Bishop in Ace Rustic Black wears textured and tonal, the Mocha wears warm and refined. Two interpretations of the same exceptional silhouette.
Craftsmanship
Made in Los Angeles by a three-generation family leather atelier with over four decades of craft behind every seam. The shell is English domestic lambskin, finished as a grain-side nubuck — the top layer buffed away to reveal a fine, soft nap beneath. Unlike suede, which is finished on the flesh side, nubuck carries the structural integrity of the full grain with a buffed softness. The oil tannage gives this leather its characteristic draggy hand feel and an almost uniform nap, with very little visible grain variation — a cleaner, more refined surface than most nubuck. Six to seven skins are hand-matched per garment. Every seam sewn at exactly ten stitches per inch. The entire finished garment pressed.
The Mocha finish
Grain-side English lambskin nubuck in a deep, warm mocha — oil-tanned for richness and buffed to an almost uniformly napped surface. The result is a soft, velvety hand with the draggy tactile quality that distinguishes genuine oil-tanned nubuck from any sprayed or surface-finished leather. Against the mocha shell, the timber Napa placket and trim add a smooth, lustrous contrast in a complementary warm tone.
The collar system
The Bishop's versatility comes from its detachable shearling collar. Remove it for a sleek field jacket with clean lines; add it for full cold-weather warmth and a richer silhouette. The smooth timber Napa placket and trim frame the soft mocha nubuck shell, and the 100% wool interior lining adds warmth and a final layer of considered material richness.
Styling
Mocha is one of the most wearable tones in the collection — it pairs naturally with cream, camel, denim, olive, and charcoal. Worn with the shearling collar, the Bishop is a statement coat for mountain evenings and cold city days. Without it, a clean field jacket that layers over everything. The warm timber Napa trim ties it to brown boots and tan accessories effortlessly.
Investment quality
Grain-side English lambskin nubuck of this quality — oil-tanned, uniformly napped, constructed in Los Angeles — is rarer than most buyers realise. The oil tannage that gives this leather its hand feel takes longer and costs more than standard finishing. The detachable shearling collar effectively makes this two jackets in one. The timber Napa placket and 100% wool lining are details found only in garments built to investment standards. At $2,695 the Bishop is the field jacket that contains an entire wardrobe philosophy in a single extraordinary piece.
