HYDE began long before it carried a name.

In 1964, a family of Italian and Mexican immigrants arrived on the edge of the Alaskan frontier and established a small fur atelier grounded in discipline, patience, and craftsmanship. In those early years, every hide was selected by hand, every seam placed with precision, and every garment created to withstand conditions far more demanding than fashion itself.

There was no audience to impress—only the work and the standards it required.

For the Hernandez family, craftsmanship was never viewed as ornament or indulgence. It was understood as a responsibility: the belief that anything made by hand should embody honesty, permanence, and purpose.

That belief remains the foundation of HYDE today.

HYDE is more than a brand—it is the continuation of a family legacy rooted in Alaska. Born from a heritage steeped in the craft of creating exceptional outerwear, the foundation was established in the 1960s when my grandfather entered the fur trade and later expanded in the 1980s when my father began manufacturing fur garments of his own.

Through each generation, the commitment to craftsmanship, quality, and service has remained unchanged. With every thread and stitch, HYDE honors that legacy while connecting with those who value the story behind what they wear—individuals who seek timeless design, exceptional materials, and craftsmanship that endures.

The Formation

Seirgio Hernandez spent his earliest years within those workshops, surrounded by the quiet rituals of the trade: the scent of dressed leather, the cadence of Bonis machines, and the concentration of artisans who understood that mastery reveals itself in details few people ever notice.

What he inherited there was not merely technical knowledge, but a way of seeing.

He learned that materials possess an integrity of their own. That construction is either honest or it is not. That a garment must justify itself not through novelty, but through character, utility, and the way it endures over time.

Years later, that foundation evolved into a deeply personal pursuit of fit, material, and craftsmanship shaped by adversity, risk, relentless curiosity, and an obsession with understanding luxury construction at its highest level.

The relationships were built through years of travel and persistence. The knowledge was pursued obsessively. Access was earned slowly through instinct, discipline, and an unwillingness to compromise on what the product could become.

Long before HYDE existed, its principles already did.

The House of HYDE

HYDE was established in 2017 with a singular intention: to create garments of enduring substance through traditional craftsmanship and the finest materials available.

Over years of travel, research, and direct sourcing, HYDE cultivated relationships with independent mills, tanneries, and finishing houses whose work quietly supports many of Europe’s most respected luxury ateliers.

These partnerships were built gradually through shared standards, trust, and an uncompromising commitment to quality.

Through them came access to materials selected not for trend or excess, but for exceptional hand, durability, and refinement: baby calf suede of remarkable softness, top-yarn cashmere spun in Biella, and shearling finished in its most natural expression.

Each HYDE garment is shaped with restraint and purpose.

Nothing is added without reason. Nothing is overlooked simply because it remains unseen.

Today, HYDE maintains boutiques in Ketchikan, Alaska—where the foundations of the house were first established—as well as in Park City, Utah, and Big Sky, Montana.

Each location reflects the values upon which the house was built: discretion, craftsmanship, and a deeply personal approach to service.
